The Growth Partner Program is described in more detail on our sister site Canadian.Partners. It suits a small number of owners with clean records and measurable goals.
How our services usually map to these options
Each engagement is scoped individually, so this is a typical pattern rather than a price list.
- Value-driver assessment: a fixed project. Scope depends on the number of entities and service lines and on the state of the records.
- Value-creation plan: writing the plan is a project; running it with monthly check-ins and quarterly reviews is usually a retainer.
- Margin and EBITDA improvement: analysis as a project, then tracking support by retainer or by the hour.
- Recurring revenue design: design and launch as a project; roll-out support as a retainer.
- Owner dependency and management depth: mapping and design as a project; the handover period on a retainer.
- Pre-sale readiness: a review project, with gap-closing support on a retainer.
What drives the cost
Four things move an engagement up or down within the published ranges.
- Size and complexity. More entities, locations or service lines means more analysis.
- The state of the records. Monthly accounts that already reconcile shorten the work. Books that are a year behind lengthen it.
- How much execution support you want. Advice only costs less than working alongside your managers each month.
- Pace. A plan compressed into two years needs more support per month than one spread over five.
An illustration of thinking about return
Illustration only, with assumed figures. If an engagement costs $40,000 over a year and helps lift sustained EBITDA by $120,000, the earnings gain alone repays the fee within the first year it holds, before any effect on value. That is the kind of arithmetic worth doing before you commit, using your own numbers and conservative assumptions. We will not promise the outcome, because results depend on your team's execution.
Sales tax by province
Prices exclude sales tax. GST/HST is added based on your province, at the rates published by the Canada Revenue Agency, as of October 2026:
- 5% GST: Alberta, British Columbia, Manitoba, Saskatchewan, Yukon, Northwest Territories, Nunavut
- 13% HST: Ontario
- 14% HST: Nova Scotia
- 15% HST: New Brunswick, Newfoundland and Labrador, Prince Edward Island
- 5% GST plus 9.975% QST: Quebec
Provincial sales tax in British Columbia, Manitoba or Saskatchewan is added only where it applies to the service. Your accountant can confirm how this affects your own books.
How to choose
If you are unsure, start small. A few hours of consulting will tell you whether a full assessment is worth doing. If the assessment shows one dominant problem, a focused project may be all you need. If several drivers need work over years, a retainer usually costs less than repeated projects and keeps the plan moving. Our FAQ covers contracts and ownership, and you can ask about scope by calling or texting (604) 632-4959.
Frequently asked questions
Which option do most owners start with?
Most start with the free consultation, then a fixed-scope value-driver assessment. After that, owners usually choose a retainer for ongoing plan support or buy hours as needed for quarterly reviews.
Do you charge a share of the increase in value?
Our published fees are hourly, project and retainer fees. The group's Growth Partner Program is performance-based, with terms agreed individually in writing. Any arrangement other than the published fees would be set out in your proposal before work begins.
Are there discounts?
No. We quote the published rates, scoped to your engagement and confirmed in a written proposal.
Is sales tax included?
No. Prices are in Canadian dollars, and GST/HST is added based on your province: 5% GST in Alberta, BC, Manitoba, Saskatchewan and the territories, 13% HST in Ontario, 14% in Nova Scotia, 15% in New Brunswick, Newfoundland and Labrador and PEI, and 5% GST plus 9.975% QST in Quebec.
Can I stop a retainer?
There is no lock-in. The notice terms for a retainer are set out in your written proposal.
